Headdresses

Have you been seeing metal headdresses and hair pieces around lately? Well I have. As soon as I saw this trend I knew that I had to pick up on it. 

Headdresses have been around for a long time... 

But only recently have they been employed for everyday use.

There are many kinds of these new-style headdresses:

from the style that goes around the head and across a middle part,

to the type that sits on the crown of the head,

to the kind that goes around your head in a 20's flapper girl fashion,

and finally to the type that wraps around the top of your head and fits snugly around an up-do.

A look like this can be pretty extreme... but if you have the occasion, I encourage you to go for it!

These are just a few of the hair jewelry pieces that I have seen... Hope this has inspired you to try them!

Floral Flowery Frilly Perfection.

FLORALS.

GOOD GRIEF. If you don't have a floral something-or-other, thank god you're reading this, because you've come to the right place.

No matter what season, florals are a MUST-HAVE for every girl's closet.

Florals come in every sort of way; shirts, scarves, dresses, skirts, shoes, you name it. Whatever you want floralized, you got it.

I wish I could say I have a closet full of florals, but I don't. I have very few flowery items, which I bug my mother about quite often. She is very ignorant of the fact that floral outfits are a wonderful thing. Don't be like that. Don't let your mother be like that. My advice to you, is to get off the computer and rush to the nearest store and BUY SOMETHING FLORAL.

I'm willing to admit that I die a little inside every time I see a stunning girl walk by in a just-as-heart-stopping dress. 

Luckily, I am the owner of two stunning floral dresses; both by Monteau brand. They're stretch-material, they hug you in all the right places, and are extremely comfortable. I got them each for $20 at a local Marshalls, which I think is a steal. I actually have more than just these two dresses by this brand; I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a cute dress.

Here are some more fabulous floral dresses that I would wear any day; florals, florals, FLORALS! God I love them so much, can't you tell? 

 The majority of floral dresses, people believe, are seasonal, and only to be worn in the summer and spring. I quite disagree; if you add some brightly colored tights, a cardigan, and leather boots, you are good to go during the fall and winter. People will love your twist on the classic flowery summerwear that floral dresses are SUPPOSED to be. Go for it and try something new with your flower print dress!


And here, for example, are some beautiful pencil skirts with different floral designs on them; I think they're gorgeous and would be great with some basic tights, flats, and a cashmere cardigan. 

I love, love, LOVE floral skirts; they're super cute, can be worn with almost anything, and come in tons of different designs. 

Finally, there are of course, flower covered shirts! You can't forget these; they're a great addition to any outfit!

Here is an idea for a cute little floral themed-outfit. These pants are adorable, and the loafers and pale pink sweater really pull it off, especially the cute purse as well!

I myself have a charming pair of leggings with a interesting flower print on them, and they a secret love of mine. I wear them when nobody's looking, when the outfit doesn't even match.... I need my floral dosage, what can I say? 

Gotta have some florals, that's the main point I'm trying to get across. Hopefully these cute outfit ideas inspired you to go looking for some floral print, because that's definitely my suggestion. Floral print is a wonderful, wonderful thing. Enjoy it!

Fall Leaves, Wear 'Em and Work 'Em

We've just entered the wonderful season of fall; autumn is beautiful, with falling leaves crunching under your footsteps as you walk down the street, the chilly air invading your lungs as you enjoy the fall smell! That was too much for you, wasn't it?

Okay, besides the point. I love to embrace the leaf style; leaf patterning on any clothing is highly appealing to me. It catches the eye and is a really cute style that comes and goes, but it's here for a visit!

Now, when I say leaf clothing, this isn't what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about beautiful dresses such as this.

Also, in the dress below, you can clearly see where the inspiration came from for this gorgeous dress.

This dress is a very basic leaf pattern; with a beige purse, some brightly colored tights and knee-high leather boots, throw on a cardigan and you're good to go! Easy to style, and classy and new, this dress is a wonderful way to spice up your fall day.

This knee-length coat is very out-of-the-box and leafy; I kind of like it. It'd be great over an ensemble of basic colors; this coat is different from the average coats you'd see walking around; it's snazzy and attracts the eye.

This one looks a little like you scraped up the leaves in your backyard and glued it on a person, but it's also a beautiful dress. I'm pretty sure, on an adventurous day, I would wear this. If I was walking down the red carpet and the theme was nature. But, not the point. It's still a pretty-cool looking dress, admit it.

Just kidding on this one. It's made of some leafy vegetable... like a cabbage. Or maybe some spinach. It's still made of leaves, so enjoy this one as a little joke, alright? Alright.

So go out there and go get leafy!

Dot, Dot, Dot

Since Leniy just did a piece on stripes, I'll throw one about polka dots your way.

Some people think polka dots are for little girls who also have a strong interest in princess costumes and Barbies; this is definitely not true. Polka dots, are chic, stylish, and personally, timeless.

Sure, they're great for little kids, but they're also wonderful for any classy person who wants to throw a bit of child-like pizazz into their outfit.

Polka dots come in all sorts of ways; I have a polka dot shirt, two polka dot skirts, a polka dot jacket, and a polka dot dress. Funny story actually; about half of the polka dot things I own consist of a three piece set that my mother made when she was a little kid, and now I wear it! Cute, right? And timeless. I love my polka dots, and they're a wonderful addition to any closet for a cute little piece you can throw together with practically anything.

This is the polka dot dress I own; it came with a light pink belt, not the red one pictured here, but the belt color isn't really significant. Since the dress itself is beige with white polka dots, it's a really soft base color and it goes with practically anything; you could throw on any belt with a matching cardigan and this dress would be fabulous. Also, a belt matching with matching tights, boots, or flats could make this an extremely easy-to-assemble and beautiful outfit.

Some people take polka-dotting it to a whole other level; if I saw this dress on somebody in public, I'd stop them and get to know them. It's really a showstopper and makes a lasting impression.

Also, polka dot pants are another way to go. That's not something you see very often, and not only are they a great conversation starter, but they're just stylish and easy to pull off with a single tone top.

Color-blocking is another way to go; these polka dots are of similar size but on different colored backgrounds; it's super cute and an eye-catcher.

Finally, just a basic polka dot shirt is all you need to make an outfit outstanding and gorgeous to anybody who sees it.

See? Polka dots really aren't that bad. So stop glaring at those stylish teens with the hip polka dot clothing and go out and polka dot it up!

All Striped up!

Did you think that just because summer's over stripe season is too? Well, if you did, you are just plain wrong.

Lately "sailor" stripes have been taking over the world! Why not just succumb to the temptation already?

Striped shirts are classic and were first made popular as a piece of women's clothing by the fashion icon Coco Chanel.

These adorable stripes can take all sorts forms!

Wearing a baggy striped shirt looks very chic over black skinny jeans!

Wearing tights underneath helps to winter-fy the look.

Red is an excellent color to accent stripes with!

Wearing a striped shirt under a pea coat can be a good option for winter... It looks very cute and nautical and is also very warm.

Stripes have recently become very popular with crazed teenage girls because of their love for Louis Tomlinson, a member of the boy band One Direction and an avid wearer of stripes.

Scarves Galore!

We're just entering the wonderful season of fall, and winter is fast approaching.

One of my favorite clothing items for these two great seasons is the versatile piece of clothing we call a scarf.

They are cozy, comfy, and stylish all in one, and a great addition to any outfit.

Scarves come in many different designs, colors, and materials.

One great type of scarf is the infinity scarf; it comes in a loop form, so you just throw it on over your head and you're good to go.

Scarves are ridiculously easy to style; you can throw them on last minute over ANYTHING. I usually prefer a single colored scarf, for a pop of color in my outfit. But, patterned scarves are also a great decision, if your outfit is built of blocked colors and you want something different to really make a lasting impression.


Here, for example, is a simply-patterned pink bird scarf; it could be great with some leather boots, skinny jeans, and a cardigan over a plain colored t-shirt.

Scarves are REALLY easy to get creative with; I know myself over 30 different ways to style a scarf, just around the neck. There are many different types of knots and ties to put into use. This is where you come in handy if you're the sailor type especially, not that we expect sailors to be reading this blog... ahem... anyways....
You can also use them as headbands, shirts, bandeaus, and accessories. That will be saved for another blogpost!

Scarves are a really versatile item; they can be worn not only around the neck, but also as headbands. This is another eye catcher; it's a simple way to both decorate your hair and keep your hair up and out of your face.

I'd really suggest getting a few scarves, especially for this season; they're a timeless accessory, super cute, and comfy. I love my scarves, and they're really a great addition to any closet. My suggestion is to always have a few on hand!

North Face, Northwest, No Other Way!

I don't think I could survive without my North Face!

These amazing raincoats usually average around $100, for the basic windbreaker. You could say it's the official jacket of the Northwest; practically everyone has at LEAST one North Face! They're definitely worth the money, and last forever. I'm really glad I have some, they're great for the area I live in.

I personally have a fuzzy/fleece black North Face;

and a blue North Face windbreaker.

Also, Leniy recently got a black North Face windbreaker. We like to match, and often go out in these cute coats!

They're easy to throw on over anything; when I'm in a rush, I usually throw on a pair of jeans, Uggs, and my North Face windbreaker or fleece. 

Not only are they REALLY comfy, and really protective against the rain, they're stylish and great for us Northwesterners. Even if you don't live in the upper left side of our great country, you can still benefit from picking up one of these the next time you stop by your local REI. They're also available online, and definitely a good investment.

We both recommend these fabulous raincoats! Head out and grab a North Face today, and be ready for that rainy weather!

Brave the Rain!

Where I live it tends to rain... a lot.

So, a big problem I have is always getting rained on whenever I happen to step outside. Lucky for us though, there are plenty of coats out there that are made just to keep you dry!

I love these brightly colored super shiny rain coats because they remind me of my childhood! They are just darling!

But I'm also quite in favor of old-school 80's windbreakers like these.

But the type of raincoat that I personally wear the most are the North Face jackets.

I got my jacket in black because it goes with almost everything, but they also come in all sorts of cute and crazy colors!

I like to wear leggings with a raincoat but you can wear pretty much anything you want with one... even a skirt!

So, no need to wait, go get yourself an adorable waterproof coat before the rain drops get you!
